No Cott deal - Blackwell

WiganSheffield United have ended their interest in Wigan's David Cotterill despite Keith Gillespie suffering an ankle injury.

The Blades have been trying to secure a permanent deal for former loan ace Cotterill but boss Kevin Blackwell has now called the chase off.

He told the BBC: "We are struggling to get [the deal] going, but I've enquired about 25 left and right-side players and we will only pick one up if we think it's right."

Gillespie looks set to miss the start of the Championship season after damaging ankle ligaments in the 2-1 win at Bury.

Blackwell added: "He will be out for goodness knows how long, but we have got some good strength in depth and so we should be ok."
