Wigan will again be without Hugo Rodallega against Manchester United but Victor Moses has been passed fit to play.
Rodallega is still battling back from a knee injury that has kept him out for the last month and the visit of Sir Alex Ferguson's side will come too soon for the Colombian striker.
Roberto Martinez had also been sweating over the fitness of Moses, who picked up a knock in the defeat against Chelsea but the striker will be fit to play.
Meanwhile Martinez is hoping to upset the form book but the statistics do not make happy reading as Latics have played 14, lost 14 since winning promotion to the Premier League.
"We know it will be difficult because Manchester United are playing for the title and they are a very strong and experienced outfit," Martinez told the Evening Post.
"But in many ways it is a great opportunity for us to beat them and break that stat.
"We were left with such a feeling of disappointment at Chelsea last weekend, but in moments like this we need to remain as tight as ever both on and off the field.
"There are so many injustices outside the football club that we need to keep the togetherness that we have within as strong as ever."
