Liverpool are ready to turn to Wigan goalkeeper Al Al-Habsi after dropping all interest in Stoke's Asmir Begovic, reports have claimed.

Reds boss Brendan Rodgers is planning big changes at Anfield in the summer and that will mean a number of players moving on with goalkeeper Pepe Reina and defender Martin Skrtel said to be among them.

Rodgers needs a top quality keeper to replace Reina and Begovic was said to be high on his list of targets as the Potters ace looks sure to move on in the summer following the arrival of Jack Butland at the Britannia Stadium.

However the £15million price tag is said to have put Rodgers off and he will instead move for Al-Habsi, who has proven he is a quality Premier League goalkeeper and will not cost as much.

Wigan will fight to keep hold of the Oman international and he will not leave the DW Stadium on the cheap but a deal will happen if Liverpool meet the club's valuation.
