Wigan have confirmed the arrival of Manchester United striker Angelo Henriquez, who has joined on loan for the rest of the season.
Just hours after United crushed Latics 4-0 at the DW Stadium yesterday, Wigan completed the formalities of the deal and boss Roberto Martinez is delighted to have him on board.
With Arouna Kone preparing to jet out next week for the African Nations Cup a new striker is a must and Martinez believes the 18-year-old is the perfect addition.
"We're really excited about Angelo because he is a very young man with a huge potential," he revealed. "He's a goalscorer with clever movement inside the box, and has had a very successful time in Chilean football.
"We hope to have a good partnership in terms of allowing Angelo to develop as a footballer and learn of the demands of the English game, because I feel he can bring us something different in the forward line."
Meanwhile, the player himself is also very excited about the opportunity to get some games under his belt with Wigan.
"This is a fantastic opportunity for me and I am really excited after the manager has given this chance for me to prove myself," Henrique added.
"Now I need to work to try and earn my place in the Wigan team."
