FA Cup winners Wigan will begin life in the Championship with a trip to Barnsley on the opening day of the season on August 3.
Owen Coyle's side then take a break from league action to battle Manchester United in the Community Shield at Wembley the following Sunday.
They return with a long journey to Bournemouth before successive home matches against Doncaster, Middlesbrough and Nottingham Forest.
New boss Coyle comes up against former club Bolton at the DW Stadium on December 14 while the Latics are also at home over Christmas with games against Birmingham on Boxing Day and Burnley, another of the manager's old clubs, three days later.
Wigan open 2014 with a trip to Derby and Coyle returns to Bolton on March 29. Easter sees Reading head to the DW Stadium on April 19 before a trip to Burnley on the Monday.
Blackpool are the final visitors on April 26 and the Latics finish the campaign at Blackburn a week later.
