Whelan sets sale terms

WiganWigan owner Dave Whelan claims he would only willingly sell up if it was in the club's best interests.

Whelan, 71, has overseen Latics' rise to the Premier League but has now come out and revealed he is open to the idea of talks with potential new investors.

"If it is for the good of Wigan Athletic I would welcome any interest from anywhere," Whelan told The People.

"All I have got at heart is Wigan.

"If anybody wants to be part of it - and they have the interests of the club at heart too - I am willing to do it."
