Mick McCarthy could be set to take a gamble on Gillingham striker Simeon Jackson by making a £1.5million bid for him in January.
The Wolves chief is reportedly keen on taking the 22-year-old Jamaican-born Canada international to Molineux when the New Year window opens for business.
McCarthy is looking at new attacking options to bolster his squad in a bid to avoid an instant return to the Championship. And Jackson, who helped fire the Gills through the League Two play-offs last season while continuing to score goals in League One this term, has caught the eye.
The former Republic of Ireland coach has had a habit of snapping up strikers from outside the top flight in the past with Andy Keogh, Sylvan Ebanks-Blake and Chris Iwelumo being successful purchases. And he could look to offer Jackson the same opportunity to prove himself at Premier League level.
