Birmingham and Wolves are set to battle it out for the signature of Bolton defender Danny Shittu, who looks set to leave the Reebok.

The former QPR and Watford man endured a tough first season with Wanderers, making only 12 appearances with Gary Cahill and Andy O'Brien establishing themselves as the regular centre-back pairing.

It's understood Bolton will allow the Nigerian international to leave for a fee in the region of £2million, with two of the Premier League's new boys can to add him to their ranks.

Both Wolves boss Mick McCarthy and Birmingham chief Alex McLeish are keen to add to their defensive ranks and the Premier League experience of Shittu, makes the 28-year-old a strong target for the Midlands rivals.
