Wolves boss Mick McCarthy has continued his spending spree with a £2m move to land Greg Halford from Sunderland expected to go through.

Sunderland paid Reading £3m for the versatile Halford two years ago but he is now seen as surplus to requirements and looks likely to be joining McCarthy at Wolves.

The boss takes his newly promoted side for a pre-season tour of Australia this weekend and he has been trying to add to his squad so the players can start to gel together as a unit whilst they are away.

If and when Halford signs he will join Kevin Doyle and Andrew Surman who have both joined the club this week and will be on the tour down under.
