Wolves winger Matt Jarvis is set to be rewarded for his recent displays by being handed a new contract at the club.

Boss Mick McCarthy is looking to tie down the player on a long-term deal to ward off any possible suitors - of which there are already a few.

McCarthy has confirmed that the club will be taking up the option of extending his current contract by a year and looking to tie him down for longer. He told the expressandstar:"We're in negotiations with him. His option will be taken up that's for sure. We'll be sitting down to discuss it with him and his agent.

"If scouts are looking at him, then great - it means he's playing well for me. Both him and Kites can play on either side, but we've got some good, versatile players.

"Jarvis is another one who loves it here, he wants to be in the first team and he's like the rest of us - he wants to get to the Premier League."
