Wolves hope to have their new manager in place by the time they take on Newcastle, with Steve Bruce still the hot favourite.
Chief executive Jez Moxey has confirmed that second interviews are now taking place and says the whole process is going well as they search for Mick McCarthy's successor.
Bruce is thought to have impressed both Moxey and club owner Steve Morgan on Friday and the former Sunderland boss is now expected to take over at Molineux in the next few days.
Alan Curbishley is still in the running, while Lee Clark is also a possibility, although Wolves want someone with more experience, and Bruce is the man they are keen to land.
"What I can say is that I think we are about halfway through the process and it is going well," Moxey told skysports news. "We have seen some very good candidates and have got some more candidates to see and we've got second interviews.
"So far I think we are just about on schedule to keep to what we said which was, if at all possible, that we'd like a new manager in before our away game to Newcastle United.
"We can't be absolutely sure that will be the time frame but ideally that is what we want to do."
