Wycombe manager Gareth Ainsworth has dedicated his side's 1-0 victory at Gillingham on Monday to the 87 fans who made the journey to the Priestfield Stadium.

A late goal from Matt McClure gave the Chairboys the victory in the televised clash and after the match Ainsworth said how the supporters and their heroes are continuing to grow closer.

"This is for the fans," he told the club's official website. "It's not a cliche and I've not taken over said 'let's get the fans back involved', but the bridge is becoming smaller and smaller between the players and the fans - it's fantastic.

"We're really together. I make sure the players respect the fans and that the fans respect the players. With the effort they're showing I don't think anything else could be happening.

"It's great to see and I'm really proud."

That shock win moved the Adams Park side to within seven points of the npower League Two play-off places.
