Yeovil manager Gary Johnson is hoping his side can make the most of the festive fixtures to make inroads on the sides at the top of npower League One.

The Glovers boss is aware the tight Christmas schedule is a potential make-or-break time for his team, who currently sit 13th in the table.

The Somerset club have shaken off a run of six straight defeats from earlier in the season, and Johnson is hoping they can now move up the table with a successful sequence of results.

He told the Western Gazette: "Every team, in any position in the league, will see that coming out of Christmas and the new year will show them whether they are competing for a play-off space, if they are fighting against relegation, or if they are still in any of the trophies.

"We could come out of Christmas and new year in a very strong position or you could be in a weaker position.

"We want to come out of it strong, but we have some difficult games and trips to Bournemouth and Portsmouth are not going to be easy over a two or three-day period for a small squad.

"But we know the importance of coming out of that period in contention."
